As I sit here writing this post, there are two very grubby, sweaty little boys who keep running into the house every 10 minutes or so with a "surprise" for me.
Every few minutes I hear, "Mommy.....close your eyes. We have a surprise for you!" Then a sticky little hand thrusts a wilted dandelion in my face while they grin from ear to ear.
Rachel's Josiah (age 5) and my Hudson (age 4)-Best buddies!
"Are those your favorite?" they stop to say before running out the back door.
"Oh yes, dandelions are my absolute favorite flower!" I say enthusiastically.
And they are. What rose bouquet could compare with the blue plastic Tupperware cup of wilted dandelions sitting on my countertop that these sweet little boys picked for me with such eagerness?
Such are the treasures of motherhood. These precious little moments are not usually found in the big events of life, but in the unexpected and mundane. We have to slow down and take the time to notice them. I'll be the first to admit this doesn't come natural to me. My default setting is to go, go, go....always working, always thinking, always planning.
But I am getting better.
I think having my oldest "baby" turning 18 this summer and my youngest "baby" just turn 4 really helps me to understand and appreciate how quick and fleeting are the days of sticky hands and wilted flowers. I am learning to slow down and savor these moments as they come. I want to remember these little treasures and think on them in years to come.

And since only one of you will win, we thought we should let you know about the awesome sale Flirty Apron is having for Mother's Day. Use code: 70FREESHIP to get 70% off any apron in their store along with free shipping!
Bunny Trail: Okay, Rachel and I have a little long-running...disagreement...going. Rachel is frugal (to a fault) and won't even buy aprons when they are on sale for $5 and $6 with free shipping. She insists that most of our readers are homeschooling moms just as frugal as she and will care less about sales on aprons, mugs, clothing, etc. On the other hand, I love to shop a good sale and insist that it's because homeschooling moms are so thrifty, that they want to know about great deals! Feel free to leave a comment letting us know which one of us is right. (lol)
Be sure to leave your comment below sharing the #1 thing you appreciate about your mother (or being a mother). Have a wonderful Mother's Day!
